Community Interest in Fingerboards EES

Since commencement of the Fingerboards Project EES public exhibition on Thursday 3 September 2020, we are pleased to say that there has been a strong community interest in the EES.

More than 100 copies of the EES, in both hard copy and USB versions, have been distributed to community members and organisations as part of the public review and submission process, and nearly 200 EES Information Kits have also been distributed.

The EES process is managed by the Victorian government and has been overseen by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning and a State Government appointed Technical Reference Group.

Kalbar CEO Jozsef Patarica acknowledges that there are many different views about the EES across the community, and says that many people have not yet made up their minds about the project.

“We have tried to reach out to everyone in the community with a view to ensuring that everyone can access the information they need so that people can make an informed decision about the Fingerboards Project,” he said.

More than 20 community consultation meetings and sessions have been held throughout the EES process and all community feedback has been documented in the EES which is available on the Fingerboards Project web site.

“We have also spent a great deal of time talking with landowners, community groups, industry bodies and other stakeholders over the past three years to hear their views and obtain their input to the process,” Jozsef said.

“This is an important milestone for the project as the community and State government review the EES as part of the approvals process.”

We would like to remind everyone that we have provided comprehensive information on how to find what you’re looking for in the EES and direct you to view the simple guide on How to navigate the EES on the Fingerboards website.

We encourage everyone to look at the EES documents and the other resources on the web site that provide background information and summaries.

Comprehensive instructions are also provided on How to make a submission.

Submissions on the EES, positive and negative, should be directed to Planning Panels Victoria by calling 136 186 or emailing

The public review and comment process for the Fingerboards project EES closes on 29 October 2020.
