Webinar – presenting Local Voices Anchor Survey results

Kalbar hosted a webinar on Thursday 23 September 2021 to provide feedback on the results of the Local Voices Anchor Survey held in April-May. Representatives from Voconiq, who conducted the survey, presented the findings.

Community members interested in hearing about the survey results can access the recorded webinar by clicking the button below:

Fingerboards Community Reference Group

Kalbar is calling for expressions of interest from community members who wish to participate in the Fingerboards Community Reference Group. This group is being established to provide a forum to share information about the project and seek feedback directly from community representatives so we can ensure community views are considered and reflected in project planning and delivery.

We are also seeking expressions of interest for an independent chairperson to lead the Fingerboards Community Reference Group.

The Fingerboards Community Reference Group Terms of Reference and Code of Conduct documents are available on our website by clicking the button below:

Interested community members can register by filling in the expression of interest form and need to lodge their registration by midnight on 13 October 2021.

We look forward to working with community representatives through this forum and maintaining a transparent and respectful working relationship with community through the Fingerboards Community Reference Group moving forward.

Seed Production Nursery promotion

On Wednesday 15 September we launched an advertising campaign in the Bairnsdale Advertiser to promote our seed production nursery.

This awareness campaign is a precursor to hosting a Community Open Day at the nursery which we planned for early November 2021 – however with the current COVID-19 restrictions, the event is unlikely to be held so we have postponed our plans until 2022.

Keep an eye out for our colourful ads which will tell you more about the seed production nursery and why we have already established this facility.

If you miss seeing our promotions in the newspaper, the ads can be found on our website.

Update - Application for Mining Licence

Following our announcement that Kalbar had lodged an application for a Mining Licence (ML) with the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions (DJPR), the community feedback period closed on Wednesday 25 August 2021.

Earth Resources Regulation (ERR) have provided a summary chart listing the themes of the submissions to the mining licence application and requested Kalbar to:

  • Formulate a strategy for engaging with the community and local councils; and
  • Ensure that any future work plans submitted address the matters raised in the submissions.

Kalbar’s submission addressing the matters is required by 15 October 2021.

Details of the ML application are also available on the Fingerboards Project website by clicking the button below:

Community Grants Program Round 3

Kalbar’s Community Grants Program is still open and we will close applications for Round 3 at 5pm on Thursday 30 September 2021.

On offer are five $2,000 grants to support community initiatives that enhance the quality of life, heritage, recreation and cultural opportunities that provide long lasting benefits to the wider community.
