Kalbar Operations Fingerboards Project commits to support the Victorian Aboriginal Employment and Economic Strategy

   Friday 26th March, 2021

Last week, the Victorian Government (via Aboriginal Victoria) completed the first of nine round table discussions in Bairnsdale to guide the development of the next Victorian Aboriginal Employment and Economic Strategy.

The round table brought together organisations supporting the local Aboriginal community including Traditional Owners, employment and training organisations and government representatives to ensure local skills, labour, and training challenges are identified and addressed to maximise local employment opportunities.

Kalbar Operations (via the Fingerboards Mineral Sands Project) is seeking to maximise opportunities for Aboriginal employment and training and is committed to building long-term partnerships with Traditional Owners (GLaWAC), Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and the Aboriginal community to identify and implement agreed opportunities.

With more than 200 jobs expected over the 15-20 year mine life, the Fingerboards Project presents a significant opportunity for sustainable employment for the local Aboriginal and wider East Gippsland community.
